The Iron Mask is set in the 17th century, during the reign of King Louis XIV of France. The story revolves around the twin brothers, Louis and Philippe, who were born to King Louis XIII and his queen, Anne of Austria. While Louis is crowned the king, Philippe is forced to wear an iron mask that hides his face, and he is imprisoned for life. The mask is said to be cursed, and Philippe is believed to have been driven mad by it.
