The Healing Brush revolutionized this process by allowing users to paint with sampled pixels while automatically matching the texture, lighting, transparency, and shading of the sampled pixels to the source pixels. This meant that removing a telephone line from a sky or a scar from a face could be done in seconds rather than minutes. Accompanying this was the Patch Tool, which allowed users to select a damaged area and patch it using a selection of clean pixels, again with automatic blending.
